Funny Madigan

Madigan went to the dentist for the first time this week. She's a little over 3 years old. Dr. Shafer informed me that it was time that she give up the binkie. Chris has been bugging me for months to do just that, but I've been putting it off because she only uses it to sleep at night and she loves her binkie so much. It's her security blanket. So when the dentist told me, Chris and I decided that the time had come. Chris was discussing with Madigan how she was going to have to give up her binkie and she was refusing of course. He launched into a discussion of how if she gave it up she would be such a big girl; how Mommy, Daddy, Bamma, Grandma, and PopPop don't use binkies, etc, etc. Madigan frustrated said the following: "Forget the motivation!!! I want my binkie!!" What in the?!? Laughing, we asked her where she heard that and she said she heard it from "Patrick on TV". That's right! Patrick, Spongebob's idiot starfish friend!!! Not only did my little 3 year old learn the word motivation from TV, but used it appropriately. We are just hoping she makes it to her teens before she figures out she is smarter than we are. She gave the binkie up that night without too much heartache. And it's been 3 nights since she's had it and sleeping well. Go Madigan!
